In your letter dated July 7, 2014, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
2-Hydroxy-5-nitro-3-(triflouromethyl) pyridine, CAS No. 99368-66-8, is indicated for use as a pharmaceutical intermediate.
The applicable subheading for 2-Hydroxy-5-nitro-3-(triflouromethyl) pyridine will be 2933.79.8500, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Organo-sulfur compounds: Other: Aromatic: Other: Other. The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem.
